The first major change in a GM pancake based instrument in decades. The Abacus utilizes hand-held computers and desktops to pack unprecedented functionality into a convenient, lightweight instrument. A unique, ergonomically designed, comfort grip makes it easy to hold for extended periods of time. The tension-mounted detector head has a wide range of motion that can be easily adjusted for use in any working environment. A Windows™ or Palm™-based computer with the Abacus software provides all display and control functions.
Detector: Two Internal Halogen-quenched, uncompensated GM tubes, one with a thin mica window (pancake only), 1.4-2.0 mg/cm2 areal density. Effective diameter of window is 45 mm (1.75 in.). Radiation symbols on labels mark the center of the detectors.
